Socio-economic impact on Kumasi and Ghana
The build-out has provided over three hundred (300) construction and allied-sector jobs with hands-on student internship offerings for several students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the Kumasi Technical University (KTU).
With a diverse range of office towers, hotels, and entertainment venues, the city will catalyse inward investment and enhance Kumasi’s commercial appeal. The world-class housing options will also elevate local living standards and support the city’s burgeoning middle and upper-income segments and accommodate Ghanaians in the diaspora.
The proximity to the region’s cultural landmarks will establish an international-standard entertainment and draw significant revenue for the tourism sector. The mixed-use model of Airport City Kumasi exemplifies sustainable urban planning, which will reduce commuting times, mitigate pollution, and facilitate live-work-play synergies.
Hiahene of Asanteman, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, who read the remarks of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said, “As a representative of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, I bring not only royal blessings but a deep sense of pride for what this moment signifies. Airport City Kumasi is not just a real estate development; it is a national asset and a symbol of our readiness to welcome the world. The Asante Kingdom stands firmly behind this initiative, and we are confident that it will elevate the socioeconomic fortunes of our people, offer opportunities for youth, and enhance Kumasi’s stature as a centre of excellence, culture, and commerce in Ghana and beyond.”
For his part, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HDG Homes, Stephen Owusu, said that HDG Homes’ mission has always been to deliver lifestyle, legacy, and sustainable growth adding that “Airport City Kumasi will be a blueprint for what a modern African city can look like, smart, walkable, green, and globally connected.”
